CIFF Film Club Homecoming Preview of ‘Broken Law’
As our beloved cinemas have been able to re-open earlier, we’re bringing forward our CIFF Film Club ‘homecoming’ in the Gate Cinema with a special preview of new Irish feature ‘Broken Law’ to Thursday, July 30 at 7pm. ‘Broken Law’ is a taut and tense thriller about family loyalty, legacy and how far we will go to protect the ones we love. It will be in cinemas nationwide on July 31 so you’ll have a chance to see it first in the Gate Cinema, Cork City.

Coming up at CIFF Film Club
Cork International Film Festival’s new Director of Programming, Anna Kopecká, who joined the team earlier this year from Prague International Film Festival, brings you a special evening of Czech Classics on July 14, available to viewers throughout Ireland. In ‘Joseph Kilián’, our hero Jan spontaneously takes advantage of a shop that hires out cats to lonely people and ‘The Key for Determining Dwarfs or Last Journey of Lemuel Gulliver’ by renowned Slovak director Martin Šulík is a staged documentary based on the journals Juráček was writing throughout his life.

A Summer Series of Award-Winning Short Films
Join us for a ‘Best of the Fest’ selection of award-winning Irish short films on July 28. To mark our 65th anniversary this year, our Senior Programmer Don O’ Mahony has delved into the archives of award-winning Irish short films presented at the Festival over the past decade to curate a special selection of five highlights for the CIFF Film Club summer series. Viewers from all over Ireland can join us to share some home grown highlights with Festival alumni.

Submit Your Film Now for CIFF2020
It has been a hugely challenging time for filmmakers all over the world, with projects impacted and delayed. We understand the impact of the Covid 19 crisis on filmmakers and the wider film industry so we have extended our film submissions deadline for Features and International Shorts to July 19. Irish short filmmakers have until August 2 to submit their films to be considered for CIFF2020 this November.
