Leaving Cert weather has finally arrived, which means we are just over six months away from the 69th CIFF, and our programmers are busy curating the best new Irish and international films to present to you this November.
In the meantime, we have a delightful free programme of short films to show as part of this year’s day of creativity for young people, Cruinniú na nÓg, on Saturday 15th June. We also have lots of opportunities: recent graduate film artists, don’t forget to apply for the Parallax Emerging Film Artist Award, and filmmakers, there is still time to send us your work as our Late Submission Deadline for CIFF2024 is Friday, 12th July. If you are interested in joining the CIFF Board, you have until 5pm, Friday 14th June, to contact us.

CRUINNIÚ na nÓG 2024 at CIFF
Cork International Film Festival is thrilled to present a FREE lineup of festival short films from Ireland and Europe, guaranteed to inspire and delight for this year’s Cruinniú na nÓg, our national celebration of creativity for children and young people.
Discover a charming selection of short animations and live-action film gems, from exploring the endless adventures made possible by imagination to the power of friendship to brave quests in bizarre worlds, along with a chat with ‘To Be What We Are’ director Claire Murphy and CIFF Senior Programmer Don O’Mahony.
Watch online for free from 9am to 9pm on Saturday, 15th June. There is limited availability so book your free tickets now.
PARALLAX EMERGING FILM ARTIST AWARD
Are you a recent graduate film artist? Then don’t miss the chance to apply for our unique Parallax Emerging Film Artist Award.
Launched in 2022, this distinctive Award aims to discover, support, and showcase graduate film artists from Irish fine art tertiary education institutions, representing a collaboration between CIFF, National Sculpture Factory, and Sample-Studios.
The Award provides a €5,000 bursary, a 12-month Associate Membership at Sample-Studios, studio space at the National Sculpture Factory, and an opportunity for a solo exhibition at The Lord Mayor’s Pavilion during the 70th CIFF in November 2025.
Application Deadline: Friday, 21st June.
CIFF2024 LATE SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE: FRIDAY, 12th JULY
Miss the Regular Submissions Deadline for the 69th Cork International Film Festival? Don’t fret – there is still time to submit your film to Ireland’s first and largest film festival by the Late Submission Deadline on Friday, 12th July.
Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of a festival that honours filmmakers with 12 distinct awards, such as the Best New Irish Feature Award (proudly supported by the Irish Examiner) and three Oscar®-qualifying awards for short films. We invite submissions across all genres, including fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental films, so submit your film now.

Cork International Film Festival is inviting expressions of interest for joining its Board in 2024. As a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee, CIFF relies on its Board members, who serve as Trustees of the charity, to ensure the organisation’s governance.

Docs Ireland returns 18th – 23rd June, featuring top-tier industry events like the Anatomy of a Cut editing workshop, a roundtable on sustaining a living as a documentary filmmaker, and a case study on The Year That Rocked Irish Dancing. This year, the festival spotlights Nordic documentary filmmaking with presentations, case studies, and panels.
The Docs Ireland programme includes IGNITE-Docs, a cross-border partnership between CIFF and Docs Ireland seeking to foster a new generation of Irish documentary filmmakers from the north and south of Ireland. The initiative supports sustainable growth and artistry in the Irish documentary community through training, skills development, mentorship, and leveraging both festivals’ resources and expertise.
First Cut! Youth Film Festival at the Triskel
For Cruinniú na nÓg, First Cut! Youth Film Festival will present a selection of short films from their recent 2024 edition.
The programme will showcase the innovative and visually stunning work of up-and-coming filmmakers across a wide range of genres and styles, showcasing the remarkable talent and inventiveness of the next generation of Irish cinema.

The Arts Council, CIFF’s Principal Funder, offers a variety of support for filmmakers in Ireland. Keep an eye out for The Arts Council’s Film Project Award opening for applications on Tuesday, 25th June, and more.
Make sure to check out Screen Ireland for funding, skills development, and job opportunities, including the Shorts, & Distribution Executive (Higher Executive Officer Level) which is open for applications until 5pm, Friday 21st June.
