Cork Film Festival is now recruiting for the new role of Marketing and Development Officer. Join our dynamic team and play a major part in delivering our exciting and ambitious plans for Ireland’s first and largest film festival.

AVA 2018 Launch
We will be expanding AVA – our successful online library of short films that featured in Cork Film Festival programmes, available to view for free from special viewing booths in Central Library Cork – with new catalogues of films from the 2017 Festival. The new programmes will be available from May and we will also introduce viewing on demand for Library card holders, so you can watch great films, for free, from home, all year round! The Festival Circuit – 71st Cannes Film Festival
The Cannes Film Festival announced its official selection last week, having imposed a sanction on selfies on the red carpet, caused anxiety with proposed scheduled changes and stirred controversy by rejecting Netflix titles from its competition. If the mean number of female filmmakers in the competition line up provoked further disquiet, a line-up that includes new work from such mighty world auters as Jafar Panahi, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Spike Lee and Jean-Luc Godard is still a mouthwatering prospect.
While the South of France in May might seem a long way from the South of Ireland in November, Cork Film Festival will be in Cannes working to secure the best films to premier in Ireland for our 63rd edition.

We’re looking for original voices and stand-out shorts, features and documentaries – and our awards for Grand Prix Irish and International Shorts are Academy Award® qualifying. Festival Films on Release and In The News
Missed The Square when it previewed at CFF2017? You can now catch it on the big screen at Triskel Christchurch until Wednesday 18th April, details here. Also currently on wide release and garnering deservedly excellent reviews is CFF2017 and IFTA winner Michael Inside, directed by Frank Berry, while François Ozon’s kinky thriller L’Amant Double (pictured) will be heading for Irish cinema screens on June 1st. Further afield, Village Rockstars, directed by Rima Das and winner of the CFF2017 Gradam Spiorad Na Féile / Spirit Of The Festival Award sponsored by The Gate Cinema, won Best Feature Film at the 65th National Film Awards in New Delhi, the first Assamese film to win the honour in 29 years.

Join director Ken Waldrop for his new film, Making the Grade, and a post-screening Q&A. Making The Grade is an endearing and uplifting documentary which explores the bond between piano teachers and their pupils as they struggle through the preparation for graded musical exams.
