CFF2019 Shorts on RTÉ Player and New Catelogue of Shorts on AVA EU Streaming Platform
Enjoy festival favourites from the comfort of your home!
The parades may have been cancelled but you can still enjoy Irish culture and film at home this St. Patrick’s Day – and every day! We’re delighted to work with our Principal Media Partner, RTÉ, to present a ‘Best of Fest’ selection of CFF2019 Irish short films by emerging directors on the RTÉ Player to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Commenting on his selection, Senior Programmer Don O’ Mahony said “these films represent work that is playful, thoughtful, curious, contemporary and we’re delighted that this selection of shorts, most of which had their premieres at the Festival last November, can now be enjoyed by audiences at home on RTÉ Player.”
We’ve also launched a new catalogue of Irish and international short films from the CFF2019 programme onto the free AVA EU streaming platform which you can view online using your library card. Check out films from Cork International Film Festival 2018 and 2019 editions, as well as a feast of films from other partner European film festivals, available now on the new Video On Demand service. Travel the world without leaving the comfort of your home!
Emerging Producers 2021: Call is Open
Calling all Irish Documentary Film Producers!
Since 2012, the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival has been selecting eighteen talented European documentary film producers annually and providing them with educational, networking and promotional support. Documentary film producers can apply for the next edition of this unique programme in 2021 by March 15th 2020.

We are expanding our volunteer Submissions Pre-Selection Viewing Team and we’re looking for keen eyes with a love and knowledge of film of all genres to view films from across the globe 🌎
If you’re a postgraduate film student, academic or working in the film or wider arts sector, with well-developed critical skills, a passion for film, and availability to watch up to 20 short films a week between March and August, we’d like to hear from you!
Arts Council Film Funding and Information Clinics
The Arts Council’s film award Reel Art will open for applications on April 14th. Reel Art provides film artists with the opportunity to make highly creative, imaginative and experimental documentaries on an artistic theme for cinema exhibition. Two films will be supported in 2020 with a total fund of €102,500 made available to each of the successful applicants. Guidelines are available on the Arts Council website in the available funding section.
In advance of forthcoming deadlines for Reel Art, Authored Works and the Film Project award, the Arts Council, in association with AEMI, will hold information clinics in Cork and Dublin. Prospective applicants are invited to attend one of these clinics where representatives from the Arts Council will discuss the awards and answer queries. Dates will be confirmed shortly and those interested in attending should register by emailing info@aemi.ie.
‘Intinn’ Youth Film and Mental Health Programme
Given the current advice from the HSE and the closure of the schools, the following Intinn events have been postponed until Autumn/Winter 2020.
Cork: The Gate Cinemas, April 1st, 2nd, 24th, 27th and 28th
Kerry: Simsa Tíre, April 20th and 21st
We look forward to visiting Transition Year students in Waterford on April 29th, 30th and May 1st and Limerick on May 8th, 11th and 12th.

Competition Time: CFF2019 Highlight ‘Greed’
Self-made British billionaire Sir Richard McCreadie (Steve Coogan) ruled the world of retail fashion for 30 years but after a damaging public inquiry, his image is tarnished. In ‘Greed’, he plans a highly publicized and extravagant 60th birthday party on the Greek island of Mykonos, to save his reputation.
