This inspirational documentary follows Anita Chitaya, a knowledgeable Malawian woman who travels to California and the White House, trying to persuade Americans that climate change is real and a threat not only to her homeland but to the United States too. Raj Patel and Zak Piper’s engaging documentary is a powerful reminder that climate change has consequences that apply to everyone.

    Post-screening panel discussion:
Led by journalist Ella Mc Sweeney and featuring: Raj Patel (Director), Dr. Edward Lahiff (Lecturer in international development at UCC), Mary Sweeney (Inclusion Advisor, Self Help Africa) and Hannah Daly (Lecturer in Sustainable Energy and Energy Systems Modelling at UCC).

Wednesday, 10th November, 5pm, Triskel Arts Centre

North by Current + Filmmaker Q&A

Filmmaker Angelo Madsen Minax returns to his rural Michigan hometown and his Mormon family in the aftermath of the death of his young niece. Family relations seem as frosty as the Michigan winter. His younger sister, clearly still processing the trauma of her loss, finds herself at the centre of a police investigation into the death.

We are delighted to welcome Angelo Madsen Minax who will join us for a post-screening Q&A.

Wednesday, 10th November, 2pm, Triskel Arts Centre.
Michelin Stars II – Nordic by Nature + Panel Discussion

The story of young chef Poul Andrias Ziska, trying in extreme conditions to combine local cooking traditions with modern cuisine amid the wilderness of the Faroe Islands.

Followed by a panel discussion moderated by Regina Sexton, Food Writer & Food Historian, UCC, with Rasmus Dinesan (Director), Jesper Jarl Becker (Producer) and Ahmet Dede (Head Chef of Dede, Baltimore) and Mags Coughlan (Head Gardener at Ballymaloe House).
    Tuesday, 9th November, 5pm, Triskel.

    Holy Island + Q&A
Fetching up in a sleepy port town, somewhere on the coast of Ireland, a tired and bedraggled David finds himself out of synch with the characters he meets. However, he makes a connection with the enigmatic Rosa, a spontaneous and self-assured soul. Following the film, there will be a Q&A with director Robert Manson.
IFI world premiere of Holy Island by Robert Manson, an Authored Works film, funded by the Arts CouncilWednesday, 10th November 8:30pm, The Everyman

Karen Dalton: In My Own Time

Dalton was a singer who emerged during the early folk music resurgence in 60s New York. A contemporary of Bob Dylan, who idolised her, Dalton chose a different path, turning her back on fame and opportunity before her death at an early age. But Dalton’s two albums have left an indelible mark on the music world, influencing luminaries such as Nick Cave (interviewed here), and Angel Olsen.

Wednesday, 10th November, 5:15pm, The Gate Cinema

Little Palestine, Diary of a Siege

A filmic diary chronicling the largest Palestinian refugee camp in the Yarmouk area of Damascus, as its inhabitants are caught in the crossfire of the Syrian conflict.  Abdallah Al-Khatib succeeds in capturing his own community in all of its vibrancy and colour, before another conflict threatens to destroy it. The film is a love song to the resistance and integrity of a people that have already had to endure so much.
