    CIFF2021 is well underway, why not check out what’s on tomorrow and some highlights for the week ahead at the Festival?

    A cine concert is often the pinnacle of any film festival schedule, a grand occasion combining the stunning imagery of a classic film with the all-enveloping feeling of a live music event. Combined with Irene Buckley and Linda Buckley’s new score, performed by percussion ensemble Bangers and Crash, and screened – with interval refreshments – in the magnificent Everyman Theatre, this special presentation of Metropolis, Fritz Lang’s genre-defining work of science fiction, will be a night to remember.

    Told in one continuous 90-minute shot, and featuring the exceptional Stephen Graham in the lead role, Philip Barantini’s adrenalin-fuelled Boiling Point is a headlong dive into the intense world of high-class dining. Philip Barantini will join us for a post-screening Q&A.

    Film & Supper Offer:
    Enjoy a 3 course supper + glass of wine in the Grill Room at The River Lee Hotel 6.30pm – 8pm, ahead of the screening of Boiling Point + Q&Aat 8:30pm, Gate Cinema. Tickets €50 and must be booked by 10am, Monday, 8th November.

    Michelin Stars II – Nordic by Nature + Panel Discussion

    The story of young chef Poul Andrias Ziska, trying in extreme conditions to combine local cooking traditions with modern cuisine amid the wilderness of the Faroe Islands. Followed by a panel discussion with Rasmus Dinesan (Director), Jesper Jarl Becker (Producer) and Ahmet Dede (Head Chef of Dede, Baltimore) and Mags Coughlan (Head Gardener at Ballymaloe House). Moderated by Regina Sexton, Food Writer & Food Historian, UCC.

    The Seven Ages of Noël Browne + Filmmaker Q&A 

    Directed by esteemed Irish documentarian Alan Gilsenan, this documentary presents a sensitive portrait of the titular Irish politician. Alan Gilsenan and producer Martin Mahon will join us for a post-screening Q&A.

    Tuesday, 9th November, 7:45pm, The Gate Cinema

    Foscadh, the first feature from Seán Breathnach is Ireland’s official entry to the 2022 Oscars®. The film is a breathtakingly cinematic rural drama set in the beautiful Connemara mountains. Followed by a Q&A with director Seán Breathnach and producer Paddy Hayes.

    International Shorts 2: Offers a selection of the finest international short film talent. These short films deal with finding that comfort zone in life’s great swirl of uncertainty. All films eligible for Grand Prix International Short Award.

    Actor As Creator: CIFF celebrates the Actor as Creator, a new initiative between Screen Ireland, Screen Skills Ireland and Bow Street Academy.

    aemi: In the long now + Q&A
    Making its world premiere at CIFF, it  is a new touring programme curated by aemi that places work by Irish contemporary film artists in conversation with three titles by international practitioners all of whom are innovating new approaches to the moving image as an artform.

    Please ensure you arrive 15 minutes before your film in order to have your tickets and EU Digital COVID Cert scanned and ID presented.
