Cork International Film Festival and Docs Ireland Announce IGNITE Documentary Talent
Development Programme
Cork International Film Festival are delighted to announce the launch of IGNITE, a pilot bilingual talent development programme directed towards emerging Irish and Northern Irish documentary filmmakers embarking on their first or second non-fiction feature film.
Created in collaboration between Cork International Film Festival and Docs Ireland (the all-Ireland documentary focused festival from Belfast Film Festival), this cross-border partnership will seek to foster a new generation of Irish documentary filmmakers from the north and south of Ireland. Drawing from the resources and expertise of both festivals, IGNITE aims to develop the long term, sustainable growth and artistry of talent in the Irish documentary film community, through training, skills development and mentorship.
Culture Night Irish Language Short Film Showcase
As part of Culture Night 2020, Cork International Film Festival is proud to present two short films which have been specially selected from our 2019 Festival edition to celebrate the Irish language on film: the 2019 Grand Prix Irish Short Award winner ‘Ciúnas’ and the touching coming-of-age drama ‘Leave The Road Behind You’. These short films, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers led by Don O’Mahony, CIFF Senior Programmer, will be available to viewers across Ireland to enjoy online.
