‘Intinn’ Youth Film & Mental Health Outreach Programme Welcomes 300 Transition Year Students & Teachers

300 students and teachers from schools throughout Cork City and County participated in ‘Intinn’, Cork Film Festival’s new youth film and mental health outreach programme. Coinciding with World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th, students attended a screening of ‘I Used to Live Here’ by award-winning director Frank Berry (‘Michael Inside’ / ‘Ballymun Lullaby’) which sensitively deals with the experiences of a 13 year old girl youth and the rise of suicide clusters in her area. The film was followed by a Q&A with Director Frank Berry, and students then participated in workshops exploring wellbeing and resilience skills, inspired by the themes and characters within the film, expertly led by a team of mental health professionals from UCC School of Nursing and Midwifery and Jigsaw. Following this successful pilot, the ‘Intinn’ programme will be rolled out to schools throughout Munster in 2020. Thanks to our partners: Creative Ireland, ESB Energy for Generations Fund, The Gate Cinema Cork, UCC, Wildcard Distribution, Spunout.ie and Jigsaw.
