The 67th Cork International Festival is now open!
Our Opening Gala screening of Frank Berry’s stunning and timely feature, Aisha, took place at Cork Opera House this evening, marking the first of the many powerful and inspiring films that will play out over the rest of the Festival.

Tonight we were proud to open the 67th Cork International Film Festival with Frank Berry’s profound and moving feature Aisha, rapturously received at Cork Opera House.
If you missed it, never fear: there’s another screening tomorrow, Fri 11th Nov at 17:45 in the Gate Cinema. This screening will be followed by a panel discussion in association with UCC Equality Week, including Frank Berry; Dr. Naomi Mascheti, Cork Migrant Centre; and Lucky Khambule, co-founder of MASI. With a small number of tickets still available, be sure to book now to avoid disappointment.
The film will be screened with closed captions, and Irish Sign Language interpretation will be provided during the panel discussion.

CORK FILM TRAIL @ CIFF2022
While moving between screenings over the next 10 days, or simply strolling around Cork City, you can experience the Festival beyond the cinema on CIFF’s unique city-wide Cork Film Trail.
Presented in collaboration with the Irish Costume Archive Project and Cork City Council Placemaking Fund, and sponsored by Murphy’s, the trail showcases stunning costumes from Irish film and television at four locations: The Metropole Hotel, Gate Cinema, The River Lee Hotel and Singer’s Corner (Patrick Street).
The vibrant displays highlight themes of the Festival programme, including music, sustainability, fashion, history and the 1922 Commemoration, and showcase Cork’s rich film and cultural heritage. Keep your eyes peeled for some familiar outfits, including costume designer Sandy Powell’s lavish creation for Olivia Colman’s character Queen Anne in The Favourite, and Lorna Marie Mugan’s sustainably sourced clothing worn by Normal People’s Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar Jones.
An online Trail map, accompanying podcasts with costume designers, a competition and film-themed Pub Quiz on Wednesday 16th November complete the Trail experience, all while offering the chance to soak up the Festival atmosphere and enjoy Cork’s legendary hospitality.

PROGRAMME UPDATE: THE WILD ONE
The Wild One, an illuminating portrait of theatre director and filmmaker Jack Garfein, has been moved to screen in the Triskel Arts Center at 20:00 on Saturday, 12th Nov in place of its previously published date next Monday 14th.
Narrated by Willem Dafoe, the film tracks Garfein’s traumatic early experiences during the Holocaust, through his escape to New York and the beginning of his creative life. A key figure in the Actor’s Studio, he became a celebrated theatre director, and a controversial filmmaker. His uncompromising vision was steadfast throughout his life, inspiring this vivid tribute to a great artist.
