As a local festival with a global focus, CIFF has celebrated and promoted diversity and inclusion for 68 years. We welcome all visitors to screenings and events and are committed to ensuring that the Festival, its venues and activities, are accessible and inclusive.
- Festival Volunteers are onsite at each venue to support access needs during screenings.
- Our Festival Hub at St Peter’s Cork, where our Customer Support desk is based, has step-free access.
- Our Festival Club, Intermission, has a step- free entrance and accessible bathroom. The Pavilion is not accessible by wheelchair.
- Our Festival screening venues have step-free access, accessible bathroom facilities, and wheelchair spaces in their auditoria – please see below for full details.
- All non-English language films will be subtitled.

CORK OPERA HOUSE
TRISKEL ARTS CENTRE
Wheelchair Access
- Access is via Triskel’s main entrance on Tobin Street
- There is a lift from the Box Office/foyer area on the ground floor to the main floor of Triskel Christchurch
- Once through the main door of Triskel Christchurch, there is a ramp to your left that takes you to the main seating area
- The entire central aisle is available to wheelchair users
- When booking your tickets, we advise booking an aisle seat in any row (or an aisle seat and the one adjacent if coming with a friend/carer)
- You can place your chair alongside that row and enjoy the show
Accessible Toilets
- Triskel has two accessible toilets, one in the Box Office/foyer area on the ground floor, the other on the first floor (same floor as the main floor of Triskel Christchurch)
- The accessible toilet on the ground floor contains a baby changing table
- The accessible toilets are usable by any gender
THE EVERYMAN THEATRE
Wheelchair Access
- The theatre is wheelchair accessible, with step-free access to the Theatre Box Office and to the stalls in the theatre auditorium.
- There is also step-free access to The Everyman Bar.
- The theatre provides a gender-neutral wheelchair accessible toilet.
- There is a designated disabled public parking space on MacCurtain street.

ACCESS INFORMATION FOR FAMILY SCREENINGS 2023
CIFF strives to be a welcoming and comfortable environment for all of its patrons. Below is additional access information on what families who might be attending with a young person with autism or sensory sensitivities can expect at each of our Family screenings at the Festival.
Family Gala: Sirocco and the Kingdom of the Winds (3pm, Sat 18th Nov, Everyman)
- French language film with English subtitles
- Live narration provided in English
- TVs/music in the entrance will be turned off before and after the screening
- Lights remain on at a low level in the theatre during the performance
- Guests are free to talk and leave their seats during the performance
- Where possible, dryers in the toilets will be manually lowered to reduce noise – please follow signage
Family-Friendly Shorts (1pm, Sat 11th Nov, Everyman)
- English and foreign language film with English subtitles (very little dialogue)
- TVs/music in the entrance will be turned off before and after the screening
- Lights remain on at a low level in the theatre during the performance
- Guests are free to talk and leave their seats during the performance
- Where possible, dryers in the toilets will be manually lowered to reduce noise – please follow signage
Robot Dreams (3pm, Sun 12th Nov, Everyman)
- No dialogue, Spanish film with English subtitles
- TVs/music in the entrance will be turned off before and after the screening
- Lights remain on at a low level in the theatre during the performance
- Guests are free to talk and leave their seats during the performance
- Where possible, dryers in the toilets will be manually lowered to reduce noise – please follow signage
Deep Sea (2.30pm, Sun 26th Nov, Triskel)
- Chinese language film with English subtitles
- House lights will remain during the performance so the auditorium will be illuminated
- Guests are free to talk and leave their seats during the performance
- Hand dryers in the toilets will be switched off and paper towels provided
- The seating arrangement in Triskel is different from a regular cinema, as instead of individual seats, it has church pews / benches
OTHER INFORMATION
- We recommend that families book their tickets online in advance to the screening to avoid queueing.
At the venue:
- Guests can book their tickets online in advance, and download them to their phones. Staff will simply have to scan the tickets from the guests’ phone.
- CIFF staff trained to be welcoming, inviting and accommodating to families’ needs
- Clear signage and clearly identifiable CIFF volunteers and staff
- The TVs in the entrance of the cinema and music will be turned off before and after the screening
In the cinema:
- Lights remaining on at a low level in the cinema during the screening
- Guests are free to talk and leave their seats during the film screening
This activity will form the start of a long-term strategy to enhance and improve CIFF’s cinema offering to young audiences through its programming and as part of its wider policy of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
