During the Festival, take a wander through the streets of Cork City on our ever popular Cork Film Trail, which features stunning film and TV costumes across four locations.
The Trail’s vibrant displays will highlight themes of the Festival programme, including music, sustainability, fashion, history and the 1922 Commemoration, and showcase Cork’s rich film and cultural heritage. Keep your eyes peeled for some familiar outfits, including costume designer Sandy Powell’s lavish creation for Olivia Colman’s character Queen Anne in The Favourite, and Lorna Marie Mugan’s sustainably sourced clothing worn by Normal People’s Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar Jones.

CORK FILM TRAIL PUB QUIZ (Wed 16th November at Bodega)
Are you the biggest film fanatic this side of the River Lee? Do you think you know more about films than the entire CIFF programming team put together? The CIFF Programmers are amongst the greatest film buffs in Ireland. Together they make up the MisCIFF Makers, arguably the most formidable film quiz team in the country. The question is…can they be beaten?
If you’re up for the challenge, then put your cinephile skills to the test by taking on the MisCIFF Makers at our CIFF Quiz Night on Wednesday 16th November at Bodega, Cornmarket Street, Cork, 7.30pm – 9.30pm.
The first ’round’ is on us (a beer or non-alcoholic beer) and thereafter drinks can be purchased at Bodega’s bar where they have a great selection, including the very finest in craft beers and of course their speciality whiskies with over 600 varieties from around the world on offer. There is also a good menu with some tasty dishes if you need to feed your brain!
This is a free event for teams of up to 6 people or, you can join a team and meet other like-minded film fanatics. Places are limited and it’s on a first-come, first-served basis. Book now to reserve your table or seat ASAP!

TRAIL PODCASTS
1. Guilty Pleasures installation – The Favourite (Yorgos Lanthimos, 2018) at The River Lee Hotel
The theme of this installation is inspired by the larger-than-life, glitz and glam of our Guilty Pleasures programme strand, represented by this dress worn by Olivia Colman as Queen Anne in The Favourite, designed by three-time Academy Award® winner, costume designer Sandy Powell.
2. 1922 installation – The Wind That Shakes The Barley (Ken Loach, 2006) at Singer’s Corner
With this installation, we wanted to celebrate the 1922 Commemoration, with a display of one of the suits worn by Cillian Murphy as Damien O’Donovan in The Wind That Shakes The Barley, designed by costume designer and co-founder of the Irish Costume Archive Project, Eimer Ní Mhaoldomhnaigh. The Wind That Shakes the Barley will also be screening as part of the Festival, on Saturday, 19th November. Book your tickets here.
3. Music in Film installation – Good Vibrations (G. Leyburn & L. Barros D’Sa, 2012) at the GATE Cinema
Music in film has always been an area of focus for Cork International Film Festival, with numerous features and documentaries. The sparkling suit displayed was designed by costume designer Maggie Donnelly, and was worn by Richard Dormer as Terri Hooley in the biopic Good Vibrations, about the life of the owner of the Belfast record shop and record label of the same name.
4. Green Screen installation – Normal People (Lenny Abrahamson & Hettie Macdonald, 2020) at The Metropole Hotel
This display was inspired by Cork International Film Festival’s Green Screen programme strand, presenting films about environmental sustainability and social issues. The costumes on display were worn by Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones as Connell and Marianne in the TV series Normal People were designed by costume designer Lorna Marie Mugan by sourcing and tailoring second-hand garments. Check out our screening of Fashion Reimagined about fashion designer Amy Powney and her journey from outsider to industry leader as she sets out to create a transparent, ethical and sustainable collection, from the field to the finished garment. This film, showing Thursday 17th November in the Gate Cinema, will be followed by a panel discussion in partnership with Future Planet.
