THE BIKERIDERS
Embark on an adrenaline-pumping, thrilling ride with The Vipers, a crew of motorcycle enthusiasts tearing up the mid-sixties Midwest in The Bikeriders. Join Kathy (Jodie Comer) as she spills the beans to a local photographer in the latest cinematic masterpiece from Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter). This film packs all the punch of a classic mobster flick without the worn-out clichés. Austin Butler broods as Benny, Tom Hardy commands as the gang’s leader Johnny, and Michael Shannon mesmerises as the damaged Zipco, all set to a roaring soundtrack, from the Shangri-Las to The Stooges. The latest film from 2023 UCC Film Artist In Residence and CIFF Alumnus Maximilian Le Cain, Solitaire is an unsettling experimental ghost story that explores family, home and identity as unfixed parasitic entities that propagate themselves through bodies and buildings. CLOSE SHAVE (UCC LORD PUTTNAM SCHOLARS) + SHORTS AWARDS PRESENTATION & 2024 PARALLAX BURSARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Written and directed by the 2023 UCC Lord Puttnam Scholars, Close Shave follows Finbarr who, after finding out his wife is coming to visit him in hospital after a serious operation, devises a courageous and off-the-wall plan to look his best for her. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the Scholars and CIFF Patron Lord David Puttnam. (6pm, Thu 16th Nov, St Peter’s)
Following this screening, the winners of the CIFF2023 Short Film Awards and the 2024 recipient of the Parallax Emerging Film Artist Bursary will be announced.
